Do you need Kentucky Hunting education?

​

You are required to take the FREE Hunter Education Course for the state of Kentucky if you are age 12 or older and you will be hunting in Kentucky.

​

After passing the online portion of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources Hunting education course, you will need to sign up for the required Range Day.

​

Important! Bring your Range Day Voucher to the Range Day as proof of having completed the online course.  All materials, including firearms and ammunition, are provided at NO CHARGE.  Warning! Passing the online course does not guarantee you a spot at the Range Day.

What to Expect at the Range Day

​

This is 2-4 hours, depending on the number of students attending and will include:

• A classroom session

• A written test

• A live-fire exercise

Most of the classroom topics will pertain to Kentucky-specific regulations and issues that are not covered in this online course. Be sure to have proper clothing for the outdoor sessions.  After attending and passing the Range Day portion of the Hunting education requirement, you will receive your Hunter Education Certificate.

Each Student will need to bring their own Ear & Eye protection, A writing implement & notebook, drinking water.

​

Dress in layers appropriate for outdoor activities.  (NO SHORTS)
